Biography
Denalee Penn-Mackey is an entrepreneur, community advocate, and leader committed to service, accountability, and family values. She is the founder of Evergreen Mortuary, a respected full-service funeral home established in 2003 that is known for its dignity, transparency, and culturally respectful care. Through her work, she has mentored young Bahamians entering the funeral service profession, provided low-cost or free services to families in need, and led crisis response efforts during national tragedies, including Hurricane Dorian.
In public life, she has championed women’s and family rights, disaster preparedness, and equitable access to education, healthcare, and employment. Her approach to leadership is rooted in service, with a focus on uplifting communities, strengthening local infrastructure, and empowering the next generation of Bahamian leaders.
Mrs. Penn-Mackey earned her degree in Mortuary Science from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Texas and returned home determined to bring professional, compassionate care to grieving families while contributing meaningfully to her community. She is married to Terrance Mackey, and together they have two daughters.
Guided by her belief that true leadership comes from serving others, Mrs. Penn-Mackey is committed to advancing policies that put people first and reflect the values of integrity, transparency, and compassion.
